Another very promising Open Source project named Magento (http://www.magentocommerce.com) has chosen the Zend Framework (http://framework.zend.com) as it's Framework.

Has this ever been considered for SilverStripe? Could it be a option for SilverStripe to follow this path?

Silverstripe is also a framework and a pretty good one if you ask me ;). It just needs some time to mature and it's modules to evolve.
