I'm wondering why my installation of SS 2.2.1 is unbearably slow. The AJAX calls are tolerable, but noticably slower than other instances I've used. The worst, however, is changing tabs, say from Site Content to Files/Images. It brings up the SS logo screen as if I'm logging in again, and takes a good minute or so to get me to the next page.

I've tried the demo.silverstripe.com and it runs much faster. What should I be looking for in my configuration that might speed up SS? Is it not caching or something?

Installing a cacher/optimizer like xCache helps a lot.

Furthermore , IE7 is dog slow when it comes to Javascript. Use Firefox (make sure to try out the latest beta for version 3, it;'s script engine is damn fast !).

Publishing a page on the tutorial site takes one minute!

Hmm. that is indeed pretty extreme. I do know that running Apache/php/mysql under windows is pretty slow , so maybe that is it ?

No - it's running on a Linux machine. Been working on it for a few hours now and it didn't get any faster. Other applications like Typo3 are running at regular speed. Very strange.

My site is hosted on Dreamhost, and its also unbearably slow. Site pages take ~1 minute to load, admin takes ~3 minutes. I run Firefox exclusively. What can be done about this?

Hello? Is there anything that can be done to address this? Is there some setting that I should adjust or do I need to enable caching?
