CMS Admin address

I have run into the problem where the hosting control panel admin is setup to use url/admin. Obviously this conflicts with the SS admin. I see most of the admin urls are hard coded to include the admin url segement. Has anyone had any experience/luck with changing this?

ok I solved the problem, just had to track through the cms code and change the url segment.
