Meta-Data blank URL breaking validation in IE

Hi
Meta-Data blank URL seems to be breaking validation in IE, when I leave it blank. If I leave it blank in FF a box pops up and asks for an url to be entered. IE seems to get stuck in a loop and the only way to get out is kill process.

I am trying to either fix the validation popup loop or remove validation altogether for the time being. Any ideas please?
