Yea this is a bug with the current forum, if you take longer then 30mins to type a reply the garbage collector deletes your forum post before you post. It is was bit of a hack in this version to create the 'Post' before you posted as it was needed for the attachment field to work.
The next version of the forum will not have this problem as I redesigned image uploader so you dont need to create the post before hand.
Is the modified image uploader code on svn yet?
