Hi, I'm a creative designer and completely new to the world of CMS. I have a client who wants a video showcase site with strong focus on flash animations and stunning visuals. He wants flexibility with uploading new videos (prob swfs), editing text, a blog and tracking stats. Can I design something really fluid in flash that will sit well with silverstripe and meet his requests above?
What advantages do you have compared to joomla?

You have near on no limitations with your design. Take a look at www.thelowdown.co.nz for a Flash site which is powered by the CMS (and also has a HTML version). You'll need to configure your flash movie to read content from an XML file (which is outputted by the CMS) if you want to use the CMS to control content within the flash file.

Another more conventional site with lots of flash components is http://www.californiawomen.org/

You may want to find a development partner if your looking a doing sites of this scale if you don't have any prior experience in the world of CMS's.
