Using ProductBulkUploader but not getting images through

Hi,
I'm fairly new to SilverStripe so possibly doing something silly ... but:

someone has made an SS site - I'm trying to finish it off.

I'm trying to upload a CSV - product data seems to get in but the images don't come in. It seems to be failing on $image = DataObject::get_one('Image',"LOWER(
"Filename\") LIKE '%$filename%' ... ")

I can see it's actually putting the image files in the right place, but don't know where they're supposed to be added into the database - I assume if they're not in the database it's giving up.

So still trying to really understand the ProductBulkUploader file. Anyone familiar with doing this? Sorry if I've missed out info, I do know it's SS version 3.5.4
