Where do exceptions end up?

For example in DBConnector.php an exception is thrown thusly: throw new SS_DatabaseException($msg, 0, null, $sql, $parameters);
Where does $msg end up logged?

If I reload the page I see $msg on the screen.
Odd. Has to be a reload.
