I'm working on a Silverstripe site for somebody, they've installed the blog on their website and wanted me to do some styling and set it up. It's all done fine apart from the whole site uses .html file extensions, which is causing a problem on the blog, as when you click a tag or browse by date I get the following...

/blog/date.html/2010/10
Which gives me a 404 Page not found.

If I take the .html out...
/blog/date.html/2010/10
It works fine.

I've had a go trying to solve the problem with various attempts of writing an htaccess rewrite rule, such as the example below, but I'm not very experienced with these and none of my attempts were successful.
RewriteRule ^blog/(.*)\.html /blog/%1/

Can anyone help me?
