Is there an existing way to automatically install, uninstall and/or upgrade a module? e.g. Like WordPress does.

In prototype form even? i.e. need to specify the download URL, run /dev/build?flush=1 manually

I'm not so concerned about automatically upgrading SilverStripe core at the moment, but that would be nice too.

I haven't been able to find any discussion of this. Is it something that's been tried by SilverStripe or the community? Or considered? rejected? planned?

Thanks,
Jules

No not currently but one of the developers is working on a module API. It involves building a couple new interfaces and setting up the infrastructure so will be probably a feature of 3.0.

Thanks Will.

I just want it for easy re-running of unit tests so will make do with scripts for now. However, I think easy install/upgrade of plugins and core is one of the things that's helped WordPress spread like wildfire. So it'll be great to see that in SilverStripe.
