Cleaning up the version history

I did some searching but all the topics were rather old so don't know if things has changed since then or not. But, what is the best way at going to clean up the version history of the pages so that it will keep only, say 10, of the most recently updated versions?

Up until recently I don't think there really was a best way... But a couple of weeks ago Hamish added a script for this purpose to his recipe repository here:
