Just wanted to keep this on the radar screen.

I am needing to tag individual nature images (and ideally short video / audio files) and then to list those in various ways according to those tags.

Anybody know if this is planned?

I'm pretty sure this isn't a feature that will be part of the cms for now. It is quite specific and could probably be part of a module.
I think the best approach to achieve this would be to extend/customize the DataObjectManager: http://silverstripe.org/all-other-modules/show/253878

Yes, it is fairly specific. Hopefully a good coder (which I am not) can tackle this functionality at some point.
