Custom Meta Tags problem

As you can see in the following screenshots the custom meta tags are displayed on the top of the page and they shouldn't!!! See the gray area on top of the page of screenshot 1, I know it all seems greek to you and it is!!!! ( Eeeehhhh!!! I think that they shouldn't show up...)
Any suggestions?!

ok stupid question from a newbie ... fix it... sorry... i put in the tags and it worked sorry again

the mistake i made was... that i thought that it isnt allowed to put any html in the metatags... but then it hit me... and i finally put in the [<meta name="description" http-equiv="custom" ] quote...
