Issues after install

Hi there,

Im trying to install the latest version of silverstripe in an effort to move from 2.4

installer reported that friendly urls arent working, though they do appear to be working (are also working for a 2.4 install)

I have come accross 2 main problems

navigating in the admin pages doesnt work, clicking on a different page to edit just returns me to the main admin screen

themes arent displaying correctly (css isnt being applied)

server error logs arent of any use as they arent showing any related errors
just wondering if anyones come accross this problem before?
