Beware of PHP 7 with MAMP during installation (and probably beyond)

I'm very new to using Silverstripe and was following the tutorial. I followed the instructions but got stuck with an error during the running of install.php. The error message was here:

Line 582 in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/example/framework/model/connect/DBSchemaManager.php

After hunting around the web, I didn't find an answer.

I then had a look at the MAMP configuration and found that it defaults to PHP 7. Changing that setting back to use PHP 5 in the MAMP preferences, and restarting MAMP fixed the problem.

I hope this helps other new players to the team. Perhaps the FAQ should include this information - I didn't see when I looked there.
