Hey all,

So I've been trying to get SS 3 running on my server for a while now. Ever since early alpha releases. The problem has always been responsiveness. I always get through the install just fine. No errors. Ever since the betas, though, after installing the site everything has been way too slow. On the front-end, clicking around the default pages supplied with the Simple theme took 5-10 seconds to load. Clicking around areas in the admin area took just as long. After wiping my install several times and ultimately reverting back to the old Silverstripe (2), the old version worked fine. Super fast and responsive.

I never really looked into it because it wasn't fully released yet. Now that SS 3 is at stable release, I'm trying again. The front-end, now, seems responsive. The pages load in a second or two. Perfect. The admin area is still sluggish. When installing, I noticed I got no error regarding the silverstripe-cache folder, ever though I hadn't created it. After installing, I saw that the cache folder wasn't there. I was confused, so I made the folder. The cache folder fills up as it should. Weird. What was it doing before I made that folder?

Maybe that's part of the problem. I'm not sure. Something else I had noticed in the past was that clearing my browser cookies/session helped front-end performance. Back when the front-end was way too slow, it only became slow after visiting the admin area (session created). So the front-end was fine, but after visiting the admin area it became sluggish. Clearing the browser session eliminated this until, of course, visiting the admin area again. Maybe that's a clue.

I'm asking here first because host monster's tech support hasn't been very helpful. They increased my PHP memory and what-not but it has had no effect.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi IQcory,

We just released SilverStripe 3.0.2 recently, which fixes a performance regression in the stable 3.0 release.

Could you see if that helps with your performance problems?
