Have just installed silverstripe 2.3.1 locally on mac osx with mamp. Followed all instructions.

But cannot not call up the admin section after the install. I just get a blank page or go back to the install page where it tells me I already have silverstripe installed. Incredibly frustrating to spend hours just trying to install the thing and then see the number of similar queries in the forum on this issue.. of course with no clear answers.

To give up or not to? Everything looks deceptively user friendly up an till this point.

Yup,
same here. Have wasted almost the whole day now. Can anyone with WinXP/IIS success post a note?

Windows XP Pro SP3
IIS 5.1
PHP 5.2
MySQL 5.1
PHP ISAPI filter installed in IIS
Document extension installed in IIS
Unpacked latest silver archive to inetpub\wwroot\silverstripe (a virtual directory)
Document files extended to include index.php
IIS restarted ok
Browse to http://localhost:80/silverstripe = a nice white, empty page.

Checked PHP installed by <?php phpinfo(); ?> = OK

No errors in event viewer

Trace of IIS:
#Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 5.1
#Version: 1.0
#Date: 2009-04-21 10:33:35
#Fields: time c-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem sc-status
10:33:35 127.0.0.1 GET /silverstripe/ 302
10:33:35 127.0.0.1 GET /silverstripe/index.php 500

So the temp redirect by IIS to default start page index.php is ok.
Index.php causes the ever helpful error 500 (server error).

Telnet localhost 80
GET /silverstripe/index.php HTTP/1.1

returns page cannot be found
