I just installed Silverstripe on my Windows XP system. I already have PHP5 and MySql installed ant they are both working great. When I type http://localhost/silverstripe/, I get the "Your Site Name" screen and when I try to click the link "You can edit this page by opening the CMS", It leads to an error 404 page with the following URL in the address bar: "http://localhost/silverstripe/index.php/admin/"

Could someone please help me finding out what is going wrong?

Thank you very much for your help!

Have you got an index.php file in your silverstripe root?.

Yes I do. I do get to the "your site name" page but cannot get to the CMS part.

Is it so complicated? Is it a good CMS or should I look for another one more reliable?

Thank you very much

Having that index.php in the url would usually suggest you are running without mod_rewrite (as that index.php handles the rewrites rather then the admin section). If you think this is incorrect or you do actually have mod rewrite enabled then try http://localhost/silverstripe/admin as the url instead (without the index.php). Also try the url http://localhost/silverstripe/sapphire/main.php?url=Security/login and see if you get a login page.

Next thing I would suggest you do is redownload the latest version and start again, perhaps a file did not get copied correctly.
