Widget displays twice on pages with submenu

Whenever I add a widget to a page with a submenu, the widget displays twice (see and - once above the submenu and once below. I only want the widgets to appear below the submenu.

Any idea why this is happening or how to fix?

The most obvious answer is that you have $WidgetArea or similar twice in your template...
