Support timeline

This timeline outlines how long different versions of SilverStripe CMS will remain supported, based on our release process. 'Being supported' or 'support' means that SilverStripe Ltd will be releasing security patches, fixing major bugs, testing, and providing technical documentation to support these versions. This will not cover issues related to individual sites e.g. custom code. Subscribe to release announcements to keep updated. Please read our Update on SilverStripe 5.x from Sept 2018.

General Principles

Semantic Versioning

SilverStripe 3.2 onward, follows Semantic Versioning, which makes minor release upgrades (e.g. from 4.1 to 4.2) as painless as possible.

Longer versions, regular shorter minor releases

SilverStripe 3.2 and onward, we support major versions for longer periods of time, with regular minor version releases that are supported for shorter periods

In it for the longhaul

SilverStripe 4 onward, some releases are marked as "LTS". We recommend that customers seeking multi-year stability make use of LTS (Long-Term Support) releases.
