Great news everyone! The SilverStripe forum is back, so sign up today and join in the conversation!

You've asked, and we've listened. After shutting down the silverstripe.org forums in late 2017, we've had some feedback through the community survey that you're missing a place to share persistent knowledge with your peers.

While there are other highly frequented places (Slack, StackOverflow and the Core Mailinglist), we reckon there's still a gap: Slack is too scattered for persistent knowledge, StackOverflow only allows distinct technical questions, and the (email-based) Core Mailinglist doesn't scale to broader discussions.

To validate this theory, we've created a new forum as a "preview". Fill it with useful information, and chances are higher that it stays around. It's based on Discourse, which is a modern take on forums that scales much better to larger communities like ours. There's some FAQs which attempt to distinguish use cases a bit.

The forum is a community-maintained effort, lead by @adrexia, @brettt89, @Firesphere, @tamelion, @dorsetdigital, @jonom and myself. If you're keen to contribute, please post on the forum meta discussion. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far!

Sign up to forum.silverstripe.org and fill it with great content!

About the author
Ingo Schommer

Ingo joined SilverStripe with its 2.0 release, and has since become an integral member of the development team. He's from Germany, but admits that New Zealand beer is often quite tasty as well.

At SilverStripe, Ingo enjoys coming up with robust solutions for real business needs. He builds modern web applications, making sure they work well in browsers and mobile devices, not just on paper. As a core developer on SilverStripe's open source framework, he facilitates community involvement, and helps architect and implement core functionality. Ingo authored the first book about SilverStripe, and is still keen on keeping the documentation fresh.

Ingo graduated as Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Media Production and has several years experience as a freelance PHP and Flash developer.

Away from the keyboard, Ingo is an avid gardener, debugging water flow and performance optimizing root growth instead of PHP.
