newsletter templates

13 December 2007 at 12:26am
Hi,
I created a newsletter template in /mysite/templates/email/
I created a new newsletter, selected this template, and put some content in the body,
But the sent email does not contain the html from the template.
What do I do wrong?
thx,
Maarten -

First: have you flushed your page?
Secondly: I remember I had some issues too with that.
Some things I noticed:
- your Email directory should be with an uppercase 'E'.
- Try adding it to your themes/yourtheme/templates/Email/ folder too. There is something weird going on with that (or something wrong with the docu), but it should work with my suggestions, at least it worked for me.

you were right, it's the uppercase 'E' that does it.
kinda stupid, but hey! -

Maarten - I am new to this. Can you please advise how to setup a newsletter template. I would like to use the same template as is being used for the site from the theme.
Do I just copy the template structure from the themes across into the "mysite" folder. which files do I need if I was to use an existing them template?
An example of how to setup the tempalte and implement it would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Is there more info on this somewhere? Documentation on:
* where the newsletter templates go
* bare bones example of what is required in the template file.Sorry if I've missed something obvious,

As has been mentioned here, the templates go in /mysite/templates/email
Some info on how to set up in the doc - http://doc.silverstripe.com/doku.php?id=newslettersytemhelp#email_templates
The basic info would be the first/last name and the message itself though it's really up to you how you extend this.

I could not get the template the work.... I had exactly the same setup locally, where the templates were recognised but on the server, the CMS did not find the templates. Very strange! Perhaps it was a case sensitive issue.
I found that if I put the template into
/themes/mytheme/templates/Email/ it does not work
/mysite/templates/Email/ it does workCheers
