Hi,

I have successfully installed the subsite module however when I visit a subdomain I get a 404 error this is the url example subdomain.domain.com/silverstripe/ and silverstripe is installed in the directory public_html/silverstripe I have read that it needs to point to the root of silverstripe installation, does that mean when I create a subdomain I need to change its directory to public_html/silverstripe/subdomain if so I have already tried this and get a 500 error so I'm not sure exactly how to point it to the silverstripe installation root.

Could someone please help me configure the subdomain so that it shows the pages that are created in the CMS? Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know how to properly configure a subdomain to point to the root of the silverstripe installation?

I have tried so many things but all I keep getting is either 404 or 500 errors. Could someone please help me, I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Have you setup domain option in home page into silvestripe admin panel?

Thanks for your reply.

If you mean placing subdomain.domain.com as the homepage under the behaviours tab then I have already tried that and it still didn't work.

I have searched through all pages containing the word subsite and practically every page with the word subdomain applicable to my situation and I have still not found the answer. I have also looked at modifying the .htaccess file however most posts were about excluding a subdomain from silverstripe rather including so that didn't help me. I have looked for information about pointing/forwarding/redirecting the subdomain to the root installation of silverstripe but that just takes me to the main domain page instead of the subdomain page. I also thought that this could be to do with when you first create a subdomain so I have tried all these combinations public_html/subdomain; public_html/silverstripe/subdomain and public_html/silverstripe and those didn't work by themselves or with the point/forward/redirect method above.

I only posted here after I ran through all the possible options and searched as much as I can through previous posts and it seems no is willing to help which is a shame as I have read some people have got it to work.

I now need to install silverstripe for each subdomain which will only contain a few pages which is a big waste. I'm using silverstripe 2.3.4 and it's been great so far however some documention could be improved as well as the search function as many have said before. If someone has managed to get the subdomains to work I would really appreciate your help in this matter.

Thanks.
