Hi I am a newbie.

I tried to upload the silverstripe folder to my server, and then went to the root folder /silverstripe to do the online install.

I came to this screen (please refer to screen shot), and it says that cannot find database server.
I have created a new database in my server, but i do not know how to link it.

How do i move forward from here?

Could anyone please help! Muchly appreciated! THANK YOU.

Hi Kevin,

Well looks like you're close! Tried putting simply 'localhost' as the server?

The error message states that you cannot connect to your mysql.sock to localhost:80. Your hosting provider will have more information about how to use MySQL for your server but it could be that MySQL is running on another domain (eg mysql.domain.com) or running on a custom port number ie localhost:3085.

Consult your hosting providers help system for the correct server name to use. If you setup mysql yourself do you have a guide as to what process you followed? MySQL could perhaps be on a special port number.
