Silverstripe CMS 4.12.0 has just been released. It comes with a host of quality of life improvements and bug fixes. It also sets up some of the groundwork to transition to Silverstripe CMS 5 next year.

Upgrade now for an improved content authoring experience.

Improved GridField and ModelAdmin

GridFields and ModelAdmins are the primary UI elements that content authors can use to manage data in Silverstripe CMS. Silverstripe CMS 4.12.0 ships with a number of incremental improvements in this area.

ModelAdmin UIFirst, navigating your records will be easier than ever before. As you go back and forth between editing entries in your GridField and viewing your full list of records, Silverstripe CMS will now remember your search, filtering and sorting criteria. This means less time fighting with the Silverstripe CMS UI and more time for content authors to get things done.

The Gridfield search has also been improved. Silverstripe CMS now looks for your search term across all searchable fields on your records. We’ve also applied a few UI improvements to the search options to make them stand out more.

ModelAdmin Search UIDevelopers will be pleased to discover a few new convenience methods for GridField and ModelAdmin that will make it easier to link to records and optimise the editing experience for content authors.

Protect your users with the SameSite cookie attribute

Security minded project owners will be pleased to learn that Silverstripe CMS now supports the SameSite cookie attribute. This attribute allows developers to better manage when browsers exchange cookies with the server.

In turn, this will help developers build more secure Silverstripe CMS websites for their users.

Patched security vulnerabilities in Subsites

Patching security vulnerabilities is a priority for the maintainers of Silverstripe CMS.

This release fixes one moderate impact vulnerability for the Subsites module. This patch has also been backported to Silverstripe CMS 4.11.

Review the CVE-2022-42949 Subsites file permissions disclosure for all the details.

There’s still more

The Silverstripe CMS 4.12.0 release contains 85 bug fixes - big and small - as well as over 380 commits.
