The New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards needed a site that acted as the central hub from which the entire awards programme would emanate.
The site needed to primarily entice companies to enter the awards but also showcase the winners, succinctly convey information to various stakeholders including nominees, sponsors, judges and more.
It needed to integrate with existing systems such as Ubiquity, Formstack, and MailChimp.
It also needed the flexibility to be easily reskinned every year to reflect the new branding, that was associated to each year's event.
It also needed to be able to handle surge usage as each stage in the awards programme approaches and users clamour for additional information and guidance.
It also had to be a platform that was modern, secure and reflected the New Zealand high tech industry.
Finally, it needed to be cost effective as it was being paid for by the non-profit Hi-Tech Trust.
Working with the designers a simple and focused UI was created. This allowed for the site to stay on budget while the objectives were met.
The site is now the 'go to' for 1000s of followers and easily handled surge usage last year when COVID-19 hit, meaning the penultimate event, the gala dinner and awards announcement, was held online and live streamed on the site.
Every year it's reskinned and every year it continues to perform solidly.
