Trouble uploading images, blank page icons, problem with delete image and upload files button

The "Upload Images" button isn't working working - it doesn't do anything at all if I tried to click on it. I found a few posts on the silverstripe forums which said that I should try changing the name of Data Object Manger to: dataobject_manager, it was something like dataobjectmanager before. Finally, the CSS seemed to be working and it LOOKED good. But, I am still having problems with uploading images.

In the CMS the images show up as "blank page icons" and they don't show up at all on the published site, the delete button also doesn't work and I still can't upload images through the CMS (I guess it's linked to the same problem); the "Upload Files" button in "Add Images" won't let me click on it.

I think it is likely that all the problems would be linked, but I am not sure?

I am using Silverstripe 2.4.5.

Has anyone come across this before and solved it? Can anyone help? I really need to get this site up asap
