International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG)

by GBarden

Project summary

Positive designed and built the International Regulatory Strategy Group for the City of London Corporation and TheCityUK a website on SilverStripe in 2012. The aim was to promote the strategy group and provide a central platform to distribute documentation between stakeholders.

Background

The International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG) is a practitioner-led body comprising leading UK-based figures from the financial and professional services industry. It aims to be one of the leading cross-sectoral groups in Europe for the financial and related professional services industries to discuss and act upon regulatory developments.

Within an overall goal of sustainable economic growth, it seeks to identify opportunities for engagement with governments, regulators and European and international institutions to promote an international framework that will facilitate open and competitive capital markets globally. Its role includes identifying strategic level issues where a cross-sectoral position can add value to existing industry views.

It is an advisory body both to the City of London Corporation, and to TheCityUK.

Our challenges

The challenges of the project were to distinguish IRSG as a significant working group but backed by the established organisations - City of London Corporation and TheCityUK; to gain credit for both TheCityUK and City of London Corporation for their contributions; position the Group at the forefront of international regulatory strategy; present the individuals who comprise the group and the scope of work that is undertaken by the group.

Also, the site had various operation challenges namely to facilitate joint working between IRSG members via document sharing in a password protected area, promote relevant forthcoming events and provide a line of contact for enquiries.

Our solutions

Limited budget lead to an agile build plan to ensure budget was focussed on the delivery of the site rather than extensive specifications. SilverStripe allowed the limited budget to be focussed on code delivery without large overheads on complex environment configuration.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration was also a challenge to complete within the budget. The Dynamics interface was with TheCityUK's so aspects were shared between both sites leading to a reduction in effort expended.

The results

The site has been supporting the work of the IRSG since 2012 with weekly updates for Members and frequent updates for public visitors.

SilverStripe has provided a stable platform for the site and little support has been required to permit content editors making changes over the life of the site so far.
